There are a lot of kitchen appliances that can make things easier when you’re on a vegan diet. In fact, vegan or not, they will make your life easier and will bring much more variety to your kitchen.
One of those appliances is a powerful blender. Back in Mexico we got a Vitamix as a wedding gift from our lovely friends Luis and Daniel and we just couldn’t stop using it. It was amazing!
Unfortunately, we couldn’t bring it to France because of the different electric power supply system. Vitamix voids the guarantee if you take it out from the country of purchase and according to them if you use a power converter the motor will gradually lose its power. We decided just to leave it there.
While searching for an alternative I came across with Froothie, a brand with apparently better blenders than a Vitamix, and with a much lower price tag.
We have been testing an Optimum 9400 since a bit shortly our #30VeganDay challenge started and we’re just blown away by it. We have confirmed it is definitely more powerful than our Vitamix (our model was the 5200) as it can make any of the recipes we tried before faster. Let me tell you that we had our challenge in stand-by until we got a proper blender as it would indeed be a bit harder to have a vegan balanced diet without these sort of appliances.
The Optimum 9400 offered several advantages compared to our old Vitamix 5200 that got our attention. First of all, with an Optimum blender you only need one jug for both wet and dry foods such as grains. Second, Froothie -the brand behind Optimum- offers a 5 year international guarantee, with the option to extend it to 10 years for a small cost. Vitamix gives you 5 year for a refurbished blender or 7 years for a regular one. Both of their guarantees are not international and there’s no option to extend them. Third, the cost of an Optimum 9400 was half of what our previous Vitamix would cost us.
It seemed like an obvious choice: A more powerful blender that required no additional jug (an extra jug for a Vitamix costs a couple hundred dollars/euros); a better guarantee and 30 day money-back period.
As if that was not enough when we opened the box we found out that they also included a hard-cover recipe book and a nut milk bag!
Take a look at the comparison provided by Froothie’s website:
You can buy your own Optimum mixer in different countries. If you happen to be in France, or in the US, you can use our coupon code (SM-Optimum-20) at Froothie’s French website, or Froothie’s US website, during checkout and get 20€, or 20 USD, off your order. Please be aware that while we would get an small commission from your purchases when using our coupon, we did not get paid to write this article and that we have decided to endorse Froothie’s blender after we have thoroughly tested it. We are witness of their superior quality and their excellent customer service. We wouldn’t suggest you anything that we haven’t already tried ourselves with complete satisfaction. As soon as we have discount coupons for other countries we will share them with you. If you are in another country, you have the money and do not want to wait for the coupon, seriously go ahead and buy one. It is one of the best investment you can make for yourself and your family!
It is true that is more expensive than a regular blender but you can make many more dishes with an Optimum than with a normal, cheaper, blender. You can grind grains or nuts into flour to make your own bread (or pancakes); grind coffee beans; your own vegetable milk; vegan cheese; you can even make soups on it, crush ice, and of course smoothies. Moreover, you practically do not need to wash it; you just need to put a drop of soap, some water, turn it on and leave it on maximum speed for about 60 seconds and that’s it!
Would you like to test its power? What about blending some stones on it?
Still not convinced? Just give it a try, at the end you have 30 days to make up your mind but we’re completely sure you’re going to love it just like we do.
