Have you ever tried to meditate and felt frustration for not finding the “expected result”?
Do you feel like it’s hard and sometimes even impossible to silence your mind and find the peace that you are “supposed to feel while meditating”?
“I don’t know how to meditate” …. “I find it extremely difficult to sit still and try not to think about anything” … “I don’t know how to silence my thoughts”…. These are some of the phrases that I have often heard when talking to different people about meditation.
Our tendency to want to explain everything with the mind invites us to believe that to “meditate” we must follow certain steps that will help us achieve a specific result. But meditation goes far beyond “finding an expected result”. Meditation goes beyond “waiting for something to happen.”
Meditation is understanding that there is no result to seek. Meditation is understanding that everything is happening already. Meditation is about being present and aware of yourself at ALL times. Something as simple to say but that we often find so hard to do!.
How do you do it? How can you be present? Through constant observation without judgments of yourself! Making yourself aware of every thought and feeling that flows within you and around you. Paying attention to what you generate from WITHIN in different situations and people with whom you interact. Becoming your own teacher and student.
To “learn how to meditate” you don’t need to go to a quiet place in India or have someone guiding you. It’s something you can incorporate to your daily routine easily and effortlessly. By practicing self-observation you turn the gaze inward and discover valuable tools that will enable you to get to know yourself.
This is MEDITATION! … It is to remain present and attentive to yourself even when you are meditating! It is taking every moment and every situation as an opportunity to make yourself aware of how you interact with life. It is realizing that any reality you are experiencing today in any aspect of your life, YOU have the power to change!!!
Dare today to give yourself the opportunity to experience life from a different perspective that you have so far. Meditation is not something you “learn”. Meditation means simply to observe yourself without judgment and to get to know who your are a little more every day!
