Like A Girl

We recently came across the video below and we thought, despite being an advertisement, it addresses something that concerns all of us and we take very serious: tackling discrimination.
To discriminate another being (for any reason: sex, race, age, religion, etc) is offensive, and it is extremely important for all of us to realize that whenever we offend someone (verbally or physically) we are not only hurting the other person but we are hurting firstly and mostly ourselves.
Why? Because by offending (lying, cheating, punching or in this case discriminating) we are degrading our status to that of a destructive being and when we do that we are renouncing (at least momentarily) to our potential (and duty) as creators, healers, guardians and lovers. We are unleashing the worst characteristics in each and every single one of us.
I am not going to tell you I have never hurt anybody because I have, probably more times than I would have liked, and every time I felt horrible, weakened and unhappy. But you know what? I hurt others because I was myself hurt! Everybody is fighting his/her own demons so why should we keep feeding the world with more despair, sadness or hate? It definitely does not help anybody.
Please take a look at the video below and next time you are about to say or do something that might make another person feel bad, stop for a second and ask yourself if, by hurting that person (with words or actions) you are being fair, kind and truthful to that person, and most importantly to your best self.
Moreover, consider this: when we reinforce stereotypes by saying something like “you run like a girl”, this might also hurt some of the people we love the most such as our wives, mothers or sisters. And with all honesty, despite men being physically stronger, we are not the best or the most important of the sexes. We are complimentary and our differences are what makes us special and responsible for each other.
In case you are the one being offended, please remember your attacker might be actually afraid of you or he/she might be hurting inside for whatever reason. So, show that person how wrong she or he is with love and compassion.
