Sum Mundus supports marijuana legalization. Why? Because we believe in giving people more options for addressing their health issues. We also believe in freedom and responsibility.
We believe that people should be free not only on choosing how to treat a disease but pretty much on anything.
Freedom and responsibility are bound together. If you are a free person it means you are responsible not only for yourself and your actions but also for the consequences of those actions and how they impact your surroundings.
Nevertheless we currently live in an era were most of the things we have access to are imposed, one way or another, as we are led to believe, and some of us blindly accept, that we cannot be trusted to be fully free/responsible. Therefore we are given pre-selected choices to create the illusion of freedom. We are being told that our alternatives are limited because it is for our own good.
I invite you to ask yourself the following questions:
- Are the choices currently (and legally) available to me for treating diseases such as cancer, alzheimer, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma, depression, etc, helping me either by preventing them or treating them without giving me severe side effects?
- Am I certain that the drugs I have access to (legally) won’t induce a secondary disease?
- Are the socially and legally accepted drugs, such as tobacco, alcohol, prozac, ritalin or any other prescriptions drugs safer than marijuana?
- Have I, my family, my country and/or the world benefited in any way from the global ban on marijuana?
There are many questions to ask yourself but as the saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words” it might be better to leave you with a couple of pictures for your consideration:
If you support marijuana legalization, consumer or not, you might be aware that there is an event these days called
Global Marijuana March happening in different locations around the world. If you are curious it might be the right place for you to see how many “normal” people support it (or consume it), to get first hand information on the topic or just simply to go out and make some friends. This event has gotten enormous support in the last years as people become more aware of the benefits of this often (but purposely) misunderstood plant.
Prague and Paris are hosting their own marijuana marches this Saturday (click on the links below to follow the respective Facebook events:
If you would like to know if your city or country is participating click
here and search. For our Mexican supporters, sadly the marches there already happened 🙁
If you would like to have more information on some of the benefits of using marijuana from, click
here to go to an article by the International Business Times. After all of this you might realize that this prohibition is not precisely for your own good.
